The “corredor mediterráneo” is a high-speed train link which will ultimately connect the Spanish mediterranean from France all the way down to Cádiz in the south. It has come into the news recently as the presidents of Murcia, Valencia and Cataluña have united to remind the government in Madrid that it is rather important to mention this in Brussels and make sure it forms part of a pan-European transportation plan. The new Valencian president Alberto Fabra has taken the unusual step of actually meeting up with his counterpart in Cataluña Artur Mas, something his predecesor Camps was not so keen to do.
Once again the call has gone out for the need to break up the old “España radial” which means that all transport by road, air and rail has to go via Madrid. I think we can all say “amen” to that one.
