To realise one’s dreams

In this phrase in the title, to realise (or realize) your dreams means to make your dreams a reality, to make them “real”.  This is what “realizar” means in Spanish.  To make something “real”.  I’ve no idea why “realise” has taken on its main meaning in English of “to become aware”.  To realise in this sense in Spanish is “darse cuenta”.  Weird – and this one can be confusing if you don’t get it right as “to make something real” and “to become aware” really have nothing to do with each other!
